Open-Screen Shared Project from Dave, Scott and Josh--Join In!We are each going to make our own 30 second segments, in whatever way we choose, and we will connect our segments in editing through pre-determined sound effects. Here are the sound effects to choose from: Step 1: Everyone pick a noise/sound effect that you'd like to start your 30-second scene with. Post to this blog, the noise you are going to use before you start making the segment. Step 2: When everyone has chosen a noise, we'll determine the order of the clips. And I'll leave that task to Scott and Dave so that the order decision list doesn't get confusing. Then we'll post that list. Step 3: Either collaborate with the person who's sound effect falls before or after yours, so that the visuals will tie together in some way or another---or you can make your segment without conferring with anyone, whichever you choose. Step 4: Create your segment. It'd be a good idea to incorporate imagery that relates to the sound effect that is to start off your segment, but it's all up to you. Place a few seconds of black silence at the end of your clip. Step 5: Upload your video segment as a QT to blip.tv. And then post it to the BVPDG site. Step 6: Editor (TBD) edits the clips together, and adds the sound effects in between each one. Send any questions my way. eggohead@gmail.com Josh |
4th...
Please count me in on this. I'd like to start with the cat hissing.
Hey, no, there's at least
Hey, no, there's at least four parts counting me. I posted a reply to you guys a couple days ago, but it didn't show up for some reason or other.
I figure since it's in two weeks time, let's make the list now, and start on our videos. I'll take nose-blowing.
As a note, it'd help out a lot if you all signed your names to your comments, since I don't know who matches up with what blog username. And all the Davids should be specific as to which David they are :)
I hope it's fine with you guys that I'm deciding the order. It's just to get the ball rolling.
Here's the list:
1. David (BVPDG founder): Gunshot
2. Nathanael: Cat-hissing
3. David Kordan: Trash can
4. Josh: Nose-blowing
If other people want to join, we can stick them at the beginning or at the end of the current list.
Have fun!

format
i guess i need to brush up on my math skills.
so i (david kordan) am going to start of with the trash can sound and end with a nose blowing sound.
did we establish if the sounds are going to be over black?
i am going to try and film at an abandoned carnival area. i don't have ideas yet, it will probably be made up when i get there.
exactly David K
You got it right David. I'm adding my friend Joe onto this as well.
Let's get all the videos into the editor by Friday, March 16th, so that he'll have the weekend to string them together. So put them on blip by that Friday, in full res.
Updated List:
1. David: Gunshot
2. Nathaneal: Cat-hissing
3. David K.: Trash can
4. Josh: Nose-blowing
5. Joe: Wind-whistling
David K., let me know if you want to collab at all on our transition (eggohead@gmail.com). Also, no you don't necessarily have to go to black at the end. whatever's clever.

felines
Does anyone have a cat I could borrow? Or a cobra.
nose-blow
Hey David K, it'd be cool if you ended with a guy blowing his nose, to compliment the guy I'll have in mine blowing HIS nose. we could do it that way.
Nathanael, you can use my cat. No promises on her having patience with direction though.
Joe's out. So there's no wind-whistling. Back to us four for now. I think Adam's gonna join in though.
Josh
colab
josh, i still don't know what i'm gonna do. i was thinking of planning on monday. do you have any ideas? do you want me to end on any idea or motion?
trash can
i'll start with trash can.
I'll take the dramatic, obvious.
Gunshot for me.
um
is there only gonna be 3 parts?
reggae
Ok, I'm in. Reggae music for me.
PS, I think a variation of edit combos would be fun to see.
scott
sorry I missed yesterdays meeting
Did you guys come up with any more ideas about the project. What about deadline?? Any thoughts? Whens the open screening?
scott
david K and Scott
Since you guys missed the last meeting, I'll fill you in. Adam's going to edit this thing together. You should send him a high-res, 720x480 video segment by tonight, or tomorrow night at the latest.
If you do it fast and shitty because it's last minute, don't worry. the idea is just to put something together, and we'll have fun watching it.
Scott, I'm gonna put you at the end, so I'm just before you with 'nose-blowing'. if you read the rest of this thread you'll see the entire list.
Adam's e-mail is office@marksmanshippictures.com
I think everyone should e-mail him, because he's never even gone to this site.
Josh
uploading
uploading to blip right now. then i will email it. are we posting our scenes or waiting for the final result?
Open Screening Project - Editing
Just a reminder for everyone to please email or post here the URL to their blip.tv page that contains their video sequence for the open screening on 3-20-07. I may not post much on evilmorsel, but I do visit it quite frequently. Almost every waking moment in fact. Pretty much whenever I'm breathing, unless I'm at HK's, I'm on BVPDG's site. Okay, I'm done teasing Josh; that hurt me, man, but we cool - no worries. I'm a pretty bad poster, but an avid teammate.
Anyway, with the roads the way they are, I'm not going anywhere tonight, so please send along your videos as soon as possible. I would love to have this finished today.
Kudos to David K for his video -- looks good, and just to clarify, I now have no problems downloading a clip from blip.tv as a quicktime movie, supposing everyone else posts / encodes the same way.
Looking forward to editing everyone's video in [the first?] BVPDG movie.
Happy Guiness Day,
Adam
Well...
Looks like there might be too much going on recently for all of the videos to make it to me for this month's open screening. I don't know what to say other than I know that I'm now unable to do the editing. If somebody still wants to do it, and can get a hold of the materials, the position is open.
Nathanael has suggested, and I agree, that we may need to take one more month if we want to string them together with sound effects to make a whole, albeit totally bizarre, narrative. Looks like Nate might screen his independently on Tuesday, so if you did something you really wanted to show, that might be the ticket unless you want to hold off.
It's too bad. It feels in a way like somebody just died. Somebody we were going to stitch Frankentseinly together with sound effects. I'm looking forward to the day we can declare it's alive.

project's still on
Sorry Adam, I guess almost everybody flaked. But I still have a scene in the works. David K, could you let me know where on blip your scene is?
I'll take over editing all of them tonite, since Adam has too much other work on his hands.
Josh (eggohead@gmail.com)
Right
So I sent an email to some people this morning but if I didn't include you and you're still interested, send me (or post) a blip URL today. Currently we've got 4 clips, ending in reggae music. Scott - I didn't realize you were in this til I just reordered the comments - if you've got something I can slap it on the end and crossfade the audio tonight around 5 or so.
Elsewise, see you at Coolidge.
-Nathanael
how'd it go?
did it get shown? is i tgoing to get posted here?
post
Hey - I posted it here: http://www.evilmorsel.com/exquisite-morsel-vol-1
This is my first time using blip instead of google video and I'm not sure the aspect ratio is quite right but I'll futz with that.
